SIGHTRON S VIII on CT 408 EDM ARMS XM408 880mm barrel 04/22 thx JY !
Na een paar honderd 308 en 338LAPMAG rounds op verschillende test rifles te hebben verwerkt, monteerden we onze S VIII 5-40 demo op een CT 408 voor het 'zwaarste' werk.
De wat smalle bijgeleverde 40mm Contessa ringen vulden we aan met een derde Contessa ring op de achterste tube helft. Beide achterste ringen tegen elkaar gemonteerd om een breder contact oppervlak te creëren. Ringhelftdruk op 18i/lbs, zoals steeds. De moeren op de PCT rail 35 i/lbs. Bij deze test ging het uiteraard om de 'slagkracht' van de S VIII te testen, maar ook om de indrukken van een Extended Long Range shooter (+3000m). De ELR toepassing is tenslotte niet gelijk aan de PRS toepassing. JY vondt dan ook de droppoints (denneboom) onnodig en verkiest een eenvoudig(er) gemarkeerd dradenkruis, verticale en horizontale posts met 2 clicks streepjes. Verlichting wordt blijkbaar in ELR ook niet (veel?) toegepast. De S VIII (althans de eerste productie running) heeft zo een eenvoudiger Mrad dradenkruis, de LRM.
PS de tweede productie run, eind Augustus (ja de S VIII is uitverkocht tot dan) krijgt andere dradenkruisen en een versterkte tube. De S6 5-30 34mm tube krijgt in Oktober ook een droppoint dradenkruis..werk aan de winkel bij SIGHTRON ! NOOT 11/12.22 SIGHTRON productieruns uitgesteld tot einde jaar....
Après avoir traité quelques centaines de cartouches 308 et 338LAPMAG sur divers fusils d'essai, nous avons monté notre démo S VIII 5-40 sur un CT 408 pour les travaux les plus "lourds". Nous avons complété les anneaux Contessa de 40 mm un peu étroit, avec un troisième anneau Contessa sur la moitié du tube arrière. Les deux anneaux arrière sont montés l'un contre l'autre pour créer une surface de contact plus large. Anneau pression à 18i/lbs, comme toujours. Les écrous sur le rail PCT 35 i/lbs. Ce test visait bien sûr à tester la 'puissance de frappe' du S VIII, mais aussi les impressions d'un tireur Extended Long Range (+3000m). Enfin, l'application ELR n'est pas la même que l'application PRS. JY trouve donc les dropponts (sapin) inutiles et préfère les réticules (plus) simples marques sur les posts verticaux et horizontaux de 2 clics. Apparemment, l'éclairage n'est pas (beaucoup ?) utilisé dans ELR non plus. Le S VIII (au moins la première production en cours d'exécution) a aussi un réticule Mrad plus simple, le LRM. On va donc monter une version LRM sur la 408 CT pendant quelques mois, avec une telle bête d'un tel calibre on ne tire pas une semaine sur deux le dimanche matin avant l'apèro.. Donc à suivre, avec de belles photos d'action et une vidéo ! PS la deuxième production, fin août (oui le S VIII est épuisé jusque-là) recevra d'autres réticules et un tube renforcé. Le S6 5-30 34 mm recevra également un réticule à droppoints en octobre... travail à faire chez SIGHTRON !
After processing a few hundred 308 and 338LAPMAG cartridges on various test rifles, we mounted our S VIII 5-40 demo on a CT 408 for the "heavy duty" work. We supplemented the slightly narrow 40mm Contessa rings, with a third Contessa ring on half of the rear tube. The two rear rings are mounted against each other to create a wider contact surface. Ring pressure at 18i/lbs, as always. The nuts on the PCT rail 35 i/lbs. This test was of course intended to test the 'hit power' of the S VIII, but also the impressions of an Extended Long Range shooter (+3000m). Finally, the ELR application is not the same as the PRS application. JY therefore finds the droppoints unnecessary and prefers the crosshairs (more) simple with marks on the vertical and horizontal posts of 2 clicks. Apparently lighting isn't (much?) used in ELR either. The S VIII (at least the first running production) also has a simpler Mrad reticle, the LRM. We are therefore going to mount an LRM version on the 408 CT for a few months, with such a beast of such a caliber we do not shoot every other week on Sunday morning before the aperitif... So to be continued, with beautiful photos of action and a video! PS the second production, at the end of August (yes the S VIII is sold out until then) will receive other reticles and a reinforced tube. The S6 5-30 34mm will also receive a droppoint reticle in October...work to do at SIGHTRON!

'My SVIII helped me get a match win this weekend. I can see and follow my shots like never before with the SVIII. It really helps with spotting trace and impacts on steel downrange. On the last stage I landed 9 of 10 shots, 7 of them was on a 30cm round from 859m in a somewhat windy position.'
De Zweedse competitie schutters PRS hebben de SIGHTRON S VIII aan verdere geduchte vergelijkende tests onderworpen. Wintertemperaturen en field conditions zijn samen met wedstrijden, de ultieme test voor elk materiaal. Extreme tracking van het éne uiterste tot het andere in afstellingen van de turrets, praktijk schieten boven de 1000m, snelle follow up shots tegen tijd, dit zijn allemaal dingen die de uiteindelijke kwaliteit bepalen van een rifle systeem, en daarin de scope. De S VIII heeft méér dan stand gehouden ! Tobias verkoos de SIGHTRON boven de andere scopes die in de running zijn in zijn club. We herkennen op de foto, IOR, ZERO COMPROMISE,S&B, LEUPOLD...toch zeker geen niche brands ! De S VIII wordt de scope waarmee Tobias als geselecteerde voor het Zweedse team, in OPEN CLASS zal deelnemen aan het World Championship PRS in Frankrijk deze zomer. Wordt vervolgd.
The Swedish competition shooters PRS have subjected the SIGHTRON S VIII to further comparative tests. Winter temperatures and field conditions, along with competitions, are the ultimate test for any material. Extreme tracking from one extreme to the other in turret settings, practice shooting above 1000m, quick follow up shots against time, these are all things that determine the ultimate quality of a rifle system, and in that the scope. The S VIII has more than held up ! Tobias chose the SIGHTRON over the other scopes in the running at his club. We recognize in the photo, IOR, ZERO COMPROMISE, S&B, LEUPOLD... certainly no niche brands! The S VIII will be the scope with which Tobias, selected for the Swedish team, will compete in OPEN CLASS at the World Championship PRS in France this summer. To be continued.
Les tireurs de compétition suédois PRS ont soumis le SIGHTRON S VIII à d'autres tests comparatifs. Les températures hivernales et les conditions sur le terrain, ainsi que les compétitions, sont le test ultime pour tout matériau. Suivi extrême d'un extrême à l'autre dans les réglages de la tourelle, entraînement au tir au-dessus de 1000 m, suivi rapide des tirs contre le temps, ce sont toutes des choses qui déterminent la qualité ultime d'un système de fusil, et en cela les lunettes de tir. Le S VIII a plus que tenu le coup ! Tobias a choisi le SIGHTRON parmi les autres télescopes en lice dans son club. On reconnait sur la photo, IOR, ZERO COMPROMISE, S&B, LEUPOLD... certainement pas de marques de niche !
